Mini elevators come in various technologies such as cable-driven elevators, hydraulic elevators, and screw-driven elevators, with different price ranges. This article will introduce you to mini hydraulic elevators with a size of only 0.9m2 and a price of less than 300 million VND. Let's explore the operating principles, structure, and important considerations of this type of elevator with THANGMAYNIDEC in the following article!
What is a Mini Hydraulic Elevator?
Mini hydraulic elevators are a type of elevator with a small load capacity that operates on the principle of pumping oil from a pump into a cylinder to create pressure on the piston, allowing the elevator cabin to move up and down.
However, due to the nature of the technology, this type of elevator is limited in the number of floors it can accommodate. Therefore , hydraulic home elevators are not suitable for large buildings and high-rises. Mini hydraulic elevators have emerged and become more popular for renovated houses and small townhouses with 3-5 floors.
Operating Principle of Mini Hydraulic Elevators
Unlike cable-driven elevators, hydraulic mini elevators operate on the following principle:
- As the elevator ascends: When you select a floor to go up, the pump will push hydraulic oil into the cylinder, thereby creating pressure to push the piston, allowing the cabin to move up smoothly.
- As the elevator descends: The hydraulic oil is withdrawn to the reservoir, the piston returns to its original position, and the cabin descends slowly. The process of the mini hydraulic elevator descending does not consume electricity, thus saving costs for the family.
Outstanding Advantages of Mini Hydraulic Elevators
-
No pit required: This is the core value. The entire drive system is housed in a cylinder located at the bottom of the cabin, which can be placed directly on the existing floor. Pitless elevator systems like hydraulic ones are a lifesaver for home renovations.
-
No machine room needed: The hydraulic pump and oil tank are neatly housed in a small technical cabinet (typically 600 x 800mm, 1.8m high). You can hide it under the stairs, in a storage corner, or outside in the garage.
-
Optimized cabin space by 85%: By eliminating the bulky counterweight, a 1000 x 1000mm opening can be used to create a 900 x 850mm cabin – significantly larger than a cable-driven system.
-
Absolute safety against falls: The hydraulic valve system prevents pipe rupture, ensuring the cabin will never freefall, providing extreme peace of mind for the elderly.
Disadvantages of Mini Hydraulic Elevators
This is the part I want you to read most carefully, because 90% of sellers will hide it:
-
Slower speed: Mini hydraulic elevators have a running speed of 24m/minute. For comparison, flat or round cable elevators typically run at 30-60m/minute. Going up 3 floors takes about 20-25 seconds.
-
Height limit: Suitable only for buildings 4 stories or less (maximum 13m). For buildings taller, the oil pressure is not guaranteed; a combination of cables is required.
-
Operating and maintenance costs are slightly higher: The electric pump motor consumes more electricity when pumping upwards (but compensates by not consuming electricity when pumping downwards to release the valve). Most importantly, you have to change the hydraulic oil every 3-5 years (approximately 3-5 million VND).
-
Not suitable for continuous transport: If there's a party at home, with 5-7 people going up and down continuously, the mini hydraulic elevator will need short rest periods to reduce oil pressure between trips.
