Ho Chi Minh City Launches First Competition "Designing Microchips for Smart Cities"

Microchip design is an important and exciting field of engineering that plays a vital role in the development of electronic technology and contributes to social and economic progress.

The contest "Microchip Design for Smart Cities" was held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City to seek talents in the field of microchip design, contributing to the development of the Vietnamese electronics - microchip industry.

The final round and awards ceremony will take place in June 2024.

Introducing the competition “Microchip design for smart cities”

The IC design competition focuses on conceptualizing, designing and implementing IC products.

The problem of designing microchips encourages the focus on serving areas that need to use semiconductor microchips to increase the efficiency and value of products and services such as information technology and telecommunications, electronics industry, automobile industry, medical industry, etc.

The Organizing Committee does not limit the ideas or fields of the participating teams.

Organizing unit

Host unit : Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Board.

Coordinating units:

- Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.

- Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City.

- Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City.

- Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Implementing unit:

- Center for Youth Science and Technology Development.

- High-tech Business Incubator.

- High-Tech Park Training Center.

- High-tech Park Research and Development Center.

Contest participants

- All students at universities, colleges and academies nationwide

- Candidates register individually or as a team (each team has no more than 5 members).

Important milestones of the competition

-November 2023: competition launch announcement ceremony

-December 2023: preliminary round

The Organizing Committee will select 15-20 best ideas to continue to the implementation room.

-January – May 2024: deployment and training round

After each month, the Expert Council will re-evaluate the teams' products to select the best products to participate in the final round.

-June 2024: Final round and award ceremony

Award of the contest "Microchip design for smart cities"

Revealing the extremely attractive contest prizes as follows:

01 first prize : Cash prize of 30,000,000 VND and certificate of merit from the Organizing Committee of the Competition.

01 second prize: Cash prize of 20,000,000 VND and certificate of merit from the Organizing Committee of the Competition.

01 third prize: Cash prize of 10,000,000 VND and certificate of merit from the Organizing Committee of the Competition.

03 consolation prizes: 5,000,000 VND prize and certificate of merit from the Organizing Committee of the Competition.

The number of awards will be based on the proposal of the Jury and the Organizing Committee after consideration and decision.

Other Benefits:

- All teams will visit and have the opportunity to interview for jobs with large corporations in the High-Tech Park such as JABIL, SAMSUNG, INTEL, ...

- All teams participating in the preliminary round of the Competition will be granted certificates by the Organizing Committee.

- The Top 3 are connected with existing incubators or facilitate incubation of topics for commercial development if highly appreciated and suitable for business needs.

- Top 5 receive free tuition at the Training Center of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park.
