  • Flat cable elevators are currently a popular choice for many families because they not only save time and space but also ensure smooth operation. Join Hoang Sa Viet Elevator in exploring the following article to better understand flat cable elevators.

What is a flat cable elevator?

A flat cable elevator is a type of elevator that uses flat cables instead of the usual round cables. Flat cables are made from hundreds of ultra-durable steel strands arranged in parallel, covered with a special polyurethane coating. This coating not only protects the steel core but also increases grip on the pulley, reduces noise during operation, and significantly extends the lifespan of the drive system. Simply put: flat cables run more smoothly, are more durable, and require less installation space than traditional round cables.

    Flat cable elevator structure

Structurally, flat elevator cables are made from high-strength steel wires, arranged in parallel and coated with a polyurethane (PU) layer that is wear-resistant, oil-resistant, and heat-resistant. Because of their flat shape, the cables have a much smaller bending radius than round cables, allowing for a more compact traction machine that can be placed on the side or above the elevator shaft instead of requiring a separate machine room on the rooftop.
