  • 19/01/2024
  • When you decide to choose an elevator for your home, you often face doubts about the type of power source used: " Should a home elevator use 1-phase or 3-phase electricity? " In fact, this decision depends on many factors such as the state of the home's electrical system, your mobility needs and the technical characteristics of each type of elevator.

Below is an overview of the pros and cons of both elevator power lines , helping you have a clearer view of this issue and make a reasonable decision.

WHAT IS A 1-PHASE ELEVATOR POWER SOURCE?

Single-phase power is the power source extracted from a branch of a three-phase power system, consisting of two main conductors (including one hot wire and one return wire). Usually used for common household purposes such as in homes, offices, shops, where electrical equipment has small capacity and does not consume much energy. In Vietnam, the normal voltage between two single-phase wires is 220VAC.

WHAT IS 3-PHASE ELEVATOR POWER SOURCE?

A 3-phase power system is a power source with 3 hot wires and 1 return wire, connected in two triangle or star connection diagrams. 3-phase power is often used in long-distance power transmission to reduce power loss and is widely used in industrial production, especially for large-capacity machines. In Vietnam, the normal voltage between phases in a 3-phase power system is 380VAC.

FACTORS DETERMINING HOW MANY PHASES OF ELECTRICITY A HOME ELEVATOR USE

Choosing the type of electricity for a home elevator and whether to use single-phase or three-phase electricity depends on a number of important factors as follows:

    • Homeowner's needs

    • Elevator load

    • Family elevator travel height

    • Model, design, type of elevator to be installed

    • Elevator motor capacity

According to experts, if the elevator has a load capacity greater than 500kg, it is preferable to use 3-phase electricity. On the contrary, for elevators with a small load capacity, about 300 - 400kg, and a travel height of less than 13m, it is possible to consider using 1-phase electricity.

HOW MANY PHASES OF ELECTRICITY DOES A HOME ELEVATOR USE? 1 PHASE OR 3 PHASE?

If the house area is limited, a single-phase elevator may be the right choice. On the contrary, a three-phase elevator can be deployed in villas, where larger movement needs are needed. With strong capacity and stable operation, a three-phase family elevator can withstand loads of 500kg or more, even up to more than 1000kg. The travel height of a three-phase elevator is usually over 13m.

Contrary to popular misconception, 3-phase home elevators are not bulky. These elevator models are still compact, space-saving and easy to install in ordinary homes.
