Nidec Elevator increases the level of protection to control risks in 3D space (3D) Formula System

In addition to integrating multiple layers of sensors for protection in all directions, Nidec Elevator also increases the level of protection in 3D space according to the new US standard (ASME A17.3-2023). Specifically, this system adds a Formula Systems sensor to detect risks in 3D space.

Previously, 2D Sensor was infrared curtain technology, infrared rays to detect obstacles covering the two sides of the elevator door (door to door). This technology only detects obstacles on the connection between the two doors, but when integrating 3D sensors, the obstacle detection space will be wider, more predictive, avoiding dangerous situations for people and objects.

The 3D sensors will be installed on the edges 1 meter above the floor, the sensing range extends 9 inches (about 0.2 meters) in front of the door. When detecting objects outside the door, the system will be activated to prevent the door from closing. If the detected object outside the door does not pass through the 2D detection system after a certain time, the detection signal from the 3D sensor will be ignored, allowing the door to close. This feature helps prevent elevators from being held for long periods of time to optimize traffic flow.
